Solex LED - A guide to application

Quick notification through clear indication - what's in a flash?

The Solex LED industrial beacon offers a range of flash functions that are controlled by a line input to give total control of the alert level; its deep lens gives an excellent viewing angle of its six signalling levels, including its novel pulse flash. Discover how you can use it to meet your notification needs.

1 Hz

Used for typical general notification.

2 Hz

Used to convey an urgent situation change.

On

Indicates the situation is normal / OK.

Double flash

Proven to achieve enhanced attention.

Triple flash

Signals direct hazards.

Pulse

Non disruptive for long term flash signalling.

Beacon colours for industrial signalling and what they can indicate

Red: Danger

Warning about a hazard or danger.Indicates viewer should stop or move to safety. If flashing may indicate immediate danger.

Typical applications: Live equipment, heavy machinery

Amber: Be aware

Warning that a danger condition could be imminent. Sometimes to warn viewer about potential hazards, e.g. piece of equipment is about to activate.

Typical applications: Forklifts, automatic doors

Green: Action under way

Indicates Safety. May indicate that an emergency is being dealt with, or show that a plant operator has taken appropriate action.

Typical applications: Emergency being dealt with; status indication - all running ok

Clear: Long distance indication

May substitute a red beacon as its wavelength can travel further and it can be perceived as brighter.

Typical applications: Moving large objects; poor visibility (could be used as an indicator to highlight different areas of equipment)

Blue: Change indication

Can indicate viewer needs to move out of the way. Sometimes used as an alternative to red. In manufacturing it often signals a difference, e.g. powering down safety critical processes.

Typical applications: Equipment powering down; security alarm activation

Which beacon base should I choose for my project?

With three different bases available to suit a range of conduit entries, and combi unit options, our bases offer a variety of ingress protection and aesthetic options to suit the installation at hand.

I need a robust base for an industrial environment so that my notification device is protected from dust ingress and water.

Choose a deep base - rated to IP65

I want a discreet device as aesthetics is important, and I won't be installing it in a heavy industrial setting.

Choose a shallow base

I'm looking for a base for two or three beacons that will work together, with the option of adding a sounder.

Choose a combi signalling unit
