xEffect FRCdM Type A and F residual current circuit breakers

Eaton´s FRCdM range of voltage-independent residual current circuit breakers  (RCCB) is your comprehensive solution for fault protection, additional protection, and fire protection.

FRCdM digitally assisted RCD function offers best-in-class performance in regards of system availability and reliability of fault current protection. The current system status can be communicated through an integrated auxiliary contact.

FRCdM offers more flexibility in applications due to extensive certification and ratings. Superior protection is given with the xEffect range of RCCBs and is the solution for critical systems.

Design according to
IEC 61008
Tripping Current
all-current sensitive
Mixed Frequencies
up to 50 kHz

Core features

  • Line voltage independent RCCB for fault protection, additional protection as well as fire protection
  • Live status of the system communicated through an integrated auxiliary contact as well as on the device itself
  • Digital assisted sensing of residual current to achieve the highest levels of system availability
  • Reduced running costs due to a yearly test interval
  • Ratings from 25A to 80A
  • 3+N pole configuration
  • Fault current tripping indicator enables to determine of the tripping reason

xEffect digital switchgear

The digital RCCBs from the xEffect series can do more than just switch off. They monitor electrical installations and give advance warning of critical current flows. So that system shutdowns – and the associated costs – can be avoided.

Local indicators
xEffect Residual Current Circuit Breaker FRCdM Type AC, A, U, R - green LED

Green

Fault current < 30 %
Everything is in order.

If the current flow in the system to ground is in the range of 0 % to 30 % of the nominal fault current, the green LED will be active.

Yellow

Fault current 30% to 50 %
Check the connected devices.

The yellow LED indicates  residual currents in the range of 30 % to 50 % of the nominal fault current.

This makes it possible to take appropriate counter measures before the system shuts down.

xEffect Residual Current Circuit Breaker FRCdM Type AC, A, U, R - red LED

Red

Fault current > 50 %
Contact an electrician.

If the red LED lights up, the leakage current exceeds 50 % of the nominal fault current. This means that the system is in critical condition – the digital RCCB will only trip if the fault current continues to increase.

Reliable protection for machines

These products help maintain an optimal system and provide additional protection against residual earth leakage currents for a wide range of applications. They come with different tripping characteristics to cater for variety of electrical systems and components. The devices offer a wide range of nominal currents and comprehensive optional accessories.

Digital RCD with enhanced reliability

Type -A: Sensitive to AC and pulsating DC. Protection against special forms of residual pulsating DC currents that have not been smoothed.
Type AC: Sensitive to AC currents
Type -U: Suitable for use with variable speed drives, in household, commercial and industrial applications. This tripping characteristic has been specifically designed for use with frequency converters to prevent nuisance tripping.
Type -R: Prevents nuisance tripping due to X-ray devices.
