Switches, disconnects and enclosed breakers

Renewable energy safety switches

Meet current and future solar energy transition needs with Eaton’s renewable energy disconnects for AC and DC voltages. Applicable for bidirectional flow of power and available in a wide range of enclosure ratings, from NEMA 1 for indoor applications to a more rugged NEMA 4X stainless steel. Their robust safety switch design also protects people, property and investment.

AC disconnects enable operation with a wide range of voltages and lead the way forward with 800 and 1,000 VAC switching solutions. DC disconnects provide reliability to systems with higher voltages, including an industry-first 1,500 Vdc safety switch design.

Voltage class DC
600, 1,000, 1,500 V
Voltage class AC
240, 600, 800, 1,000 V
Current ratings
30 A–1,200 A

Core features

DC disconnects:

  • UL Listed for reverse power flow
  • Many designs available with both EUSERC-compliant enhanced visible blade and viewing window for redundant ON/OFF indication
  • Loadbreak rated, includes full line shield and can be padlocked in the OFF position
  • Fusible and non-fusible

AC disconnects:

  • Optional viewing windows available, including EUSERC-compliant enhanced visible blade for redundant ON/OFF indication
  • Loadbreak rated, and can be padlocked in the OFF position
  • Fusible and non-fusible

Enhanced visible blade

Enables personnel to clearly see that blades are disengaged from stationary contacts when the switch handle is in the OFF position. (Shown with optional viewing window)
  • Standard feature on 30 A–100 A or when ordering optional viewing window on 200 A or higher
  • Provides increased visibility over each pole, allowing users to clearly see the trailing edge of the blade
  • Updated arc shield’s yellow colour creates greater contrast between blades and arc shield
  • Provides clear path to view switch base and current-carrying blades with optional viewing window
  • Can be included in a standard heavy-duty safety switch with solid front door or optional viewing window – requires catalogue suffix 'V'

Optional interlocked sockets

Connectors are interlocked to handle mechanisms so that power plugs may not be inserted or removed when the switch is in the ON position.
  • Interlock mechanism on connector prevents plug from being disengaged under load
  • Complies with OSHA lockout/tagout requirements
  • Available with viewing windows, aux contacts, special paint, etc.
  • Meets stringent UL 98 standards for safety, durability and reliability
  • Pre-wired and interlocked to polarised sockets for 3-phase, 3-wire, grounded type power plugs

Heavy duty safety switches with surge protection

Surge protection

Integral surge protective devices (SPD) provide protection at the service entrance and branch-circuit level.
  • Provides integrated SPD options available in heavy-duty safety switches ranging from 30 A to 1,200 A
  • Includes Eaton type SP1 and CVX surge devices
  • Offers a factory-wired solution that solves the challenge in the field of where to terminate the SPD leads and still maintain the product’s UL listing
  • Incorporates integral SPD wired to load side of switch and can be isolated from line side power, should the SPD require replacing
  • Provides an external window to enable viewing of LEDs on SPD for quick status indication
