SC9000 CI medium-voltage variable frequency drive

Designed for use with 4,160 V induction or synchronous motors up 2,500 hp, the SC9000 CI medium-voltage variable frequency drive delivers the reliable performance and energy savings you expect from an SC9000 VFD but takes up to 40% less floor space. The SC9000 CI drive positions the optional output filter above the inverter, delivering a small footprint, especially where long cable lengths are required. The SC9000 CI medium-voltage drive is a fully integrated drive with main bus, isolation switch, power fuses and vacuum contactor.

Voltage class
5 kV
Horsepower
up to 2,500 hp
Main bus rating
up to 3,000 A

Core features

The SC9000 CI drive incorporates the same highly reliable neutral-point clamp topology as the SC9000 EP drive in addition to:

  • Compact 3-phase inverter, positioning the output filter within the enclosure without increasing footprint
  • 24-pulse transformer for IEEE® 519 compliance
  • Modular roll-in/roll-out inverter
  • Eaton’s exclusive soft-mag pre-charge system
  • Main bus, isolation switch, power fuses and main contactor are provided as standard

SC9000 EP arc-resistant medium-voltage drives

Discover how Eaton SC9000 EP arc-resistant medium-voltage drives safely protect your team and your bottom line.

Efficient use of your most valuable resources

The industry-leading, compactly designed SC9000 CI drive is also equipped with the lowest inverter part count and low mean time before failure (MTBF), increasing reliability for your operation. Further benefits include a low total cost of ownership with component level spares and a roll-in/roll-out inverter design simplifying maintenance activities.

Synchronous Transfer Systems available for all SC9000 drives

Eaton's Synchronous Transfer System maximises capital efficiency by operating multiple motors of varying hp with one single drive.  The incorporation of Ampgard motor control with the double bus designs ensures superior performance. Find out more about synchronous drives transfers and benefits.

    Inrush current, meet your match

    The SC9000 family of medium-voltage VFDs use Eaton's soft-mag pre-charge system which:

    • Eliminates drive inrush current
    • Simplifies protection and coordination
    • Provides a possible reduction of incident energy and PPE level at the drive

Integrated control gear streamlines multi-configuration line-ups

Compact and economical solution combining Eaton’s Ampgard main breaker and motor starters with the SC9000 medium-voltage drive across a common bus in a single high quality, integrated assembly. Entire assembly is available as arc-resistant.
