xPole Combined RCD/MCB Device PKNM, 1+N-pole

This residual current operated circuit breaker with integrated overcurrent protection in 1+N pole is a high-quality residual current circuit breaker and miniature circuit breaker combination.

This RCD/MCB combination PKNM switch is not only available as an AC and pulse current sensitive "standard type" A, but also as a mixing frequency sensitive type F, as a type G or G/A triggering with a time delay of at least 10 ms. While the AC and the A are only impulse current resistant up to 250 A, the other three types F, G and G/A offer an increased impulse current resistance of up to 3 kA.

Combined protection in a single device

Eaton's high quality standard guarantees comprehensive personal- and equipment protection by combining the functionalities of a residual current circuit breaker with those of a miniature circuit breaker. Spend less time and effort wiring while still protecting the system against overload, short circuit and residual current. Using Eaton's line of RCBOs, your electrical system will increase in safety and reliability.

Suitable types for all contingencies

  • Type AC: This type only detects pure sinusoidal AC residual currents.
  • Type -G: 10 ms time delay and advanced surge current proof capabilities in order to avoid unwanted tripping (e.g. during thunderstorms).
  • Type -A: Protects against special forms of residual pulsating DC which have not been smoothed.
  • Type -F (PKNM): Higher immunity against smooth DC currents and enhanced surge current proof capabilities.

Type F for modern buildings

A study conducted by the Dresden University of Technology (TUD) in cooperation with Eaton and four other manufacturers of residual current devices has shown that in today’s domestic installations, Type F RCDs offer better protection against breaker malfunctions than Type A devices. The reason for this is that new, larger loads, such as photovoltaic (PV) systems and charging stations for electric vehicles, also pose novel challenges for RCDs.

IEC Standard quality design

Eaton´s RCBOs adhere to IEC / EN 61009 – a standard covering residual current operated circuit-breakers with integral overcurrent protection (RCBOs) for fixed installation up to 125 A.

All requirements according to the product standards are fulfilled and applicable additional standards are printed onto the device itself.
