AZ xEffect Miniature Circuit Breaker

The AZ miniature circuit breaker is a protective device equipped with both a thermal and an electromagnetic release that is available in 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 3+N pole versions. The AZ is suitable for both AC and DC applications (60 V per pole) with rated currents from 20 A to 125 A. Depending on the device type, it has a switching capacity of up to 25 kA according to IEC/EN 60947-2.

Core features

  • Premium miniature circuit breaker for industrial applications and high-end building installations
  • Current limiting class 3
  • Contact position indicator red – green
  • Rated currents up to 125 A
  • Tripping characteristics B, C and D (only B and C for the 4-pole version)
  • Rated switching capacity up to 25 kA according to IEC/EN 60947-2
  • The isolating characteristics meet the insulation coordination requirements (= distance between the contacts ≥ 4 mm)
  • Double-break contact
  • Compatible with standard busbars
  • Comprehensive range of accessories, which can also be retrofitted

Reliable cable protection

MCBs protect cables against damage due to overload and short circuits: In the event of dangerously high currents, the circuit breaker’s bimetallic thermal release will disconnect the power supply. In the event of a short circuit, the electromagnetic release will disconnect the power supply in a timely manner.

A design that is standard-compliant and quality-tested

Eaton’s AZ miniature circuit breakers are type-tested and approved according to IEC/EN 60947-2 (VDE 0660-101). This standard applies to circuit breakers in circuits with rated voltages up to 1,000 V AC, or up to 1,500 V DC.

The right MCB for every application

Circuit breakers with tripping characteristic B are the standard MCB type used for lighting and socket circuits. For circuits with high peak currents (e.g. motors and luminaire banks) devices with tripping characteristic C are used. Circuit breakers with tripping characteristic D are used for inductive and capacitive loads (solenoid valves, transformers etc.).

Maximum safety in railway applications

The xEffect range of protective switchgear also ensures the highest safety standards in railway applications. Thanks to compliance with specific standards such as IEC 61373 (Rolling stock equipment – Shock and vibration) and EN 45545-2 (fire protection of railway vehicles), the devices provide maximum safety and performance in rolling stock applications. In addition to standard switchgear, we also offer a wide range of MCBs and RCDs for the connection of ring cable lugs in railway applications.
