SPBT12 xPole Surge Protection

The SPBT12 device provides protection against transient overvoltage caused by direct lighting strokes for lighting protection levels III and IV acc. to IEC 62305.

Usually when an external lightning protection system is installed, an internal lightning protection system is also required for which the type 1/2 combination offers the best solution.

Lightning Protection Level
III and IV
MAXIMUM DISCHARGE CURRENT
50kA (L-N)
SUPPLY SYSTEMS
TT, TN-C and TN-S systems

Core features

  • Suitable for applications with an external lightning protection system
  • Nominal discharge current (8/20) µs (In): 20 - 25 k
  • Available as:
    • Single phase supply: 2+0, 1+1 connection,
    • Three phase supply: 3+0, 4+0, 3+N, 3+N (with busbar) connection
  • Accessories available: auxiliary switch and busbar

Type of protection

SPB „BB“
  • SPD which can be connected via busbar to a 4pole protective device/ switch disconnector

    SPB „NPE“
  • Galvanic separated SPD path between neutral and protective earth
  • Suitable for TT and TN-S systems due to the 3+1 connection
  • Protection against transient overvoltage

Surge protection devices of type 1/2 are often used where customers have a lightning protection system installed. To be fully protected beside an external lightning protection, it is required to have an internal lightning protection system as well.

The combination of T1 and T2 devices is suitable for a wide range of surge protection, providing the optimal solution in such cases.

Suitable for a wide range of surge protection

Eaton's SPBT12 is a combined type 1 and type 2 surge protection device. It is the most common installed device, designed for all low voltage electrical installations. Installed in each electrical switchboard the SPBT12 helps to prevent the spread of overvoltage and protect various loads.

    Reduces effect of overvoltages

The installation of surge protection devices is intended to ensure voltage limitation in accordance with the insulation coordination. This avoids dangerous sparking and the resulting fires.

Overvoltage protection devices must be installed to reduce the effects of overvoltages. This applies to the electrical systems of all buildings from residential homes up to public and telecommunications facilities.

A revolutionary way to secure your PV investment

The SPPVR surge protection device family ensures secure and durable photovoltaic installations by providing robust defense against overvoltage on the DC side, thus preserving equipment longevity and securing PV system durability in residential and commercial structures.
