Emergency voice communication systems

VoCALL 5 Emergency voice communication control panel

The VoCALL 5 emergency voice communication system (EVCS) is ideal for smaller installations which require up to 5 outstations or emergency assist alarms. The system comprises the Compact 5-line unit which controls up to 5 outstations (Type A, Type B, Emergency Assist Alarms or, in regions which allow their use, roaming handsets and jack plates).

The standalone unit contains the systems master handset, power supply and connectivity for the 5 outstations. 20mm knockouts are provided for all system cabling and the housing is of ample size to support 2x 5Ah backup batteries (not supplied).

The unit is microprocessor controlled but requires no on-site programming; it is fitted with end of line resistors which are simply discarded when an outstation is connected making installation quick and simple.

Quick installation with direct connect cabling

The VoCALL 5 system uses star topology cabling which means that the outstations are wired directly to the panel using 2 core radial fire rated enhanced cables.

The EFVCC5 panel also includes 20mm knockouts for ease of cabling.

This simple panel design and cabling technique ensures simple and fast installation, meaning that your project can be completed quickly using minimum resources.

Keep small building communication simple with a suitably sized EVC system

Disabled refuge areas are required in buildings that are more than 1 storey high, however, for those smaller buildings such as hostels and boutique hotels, it may be difficult to find a suitable, small-scale emergency voice communication (EVC) system. Given that the VoCALL 5 has 5 lines and can connect up to 5 outstations, it is ideal for projects of this nature.

Why must I have a disabled refuge emergency voice communication system?

Risk assessments of new buildings must make provision for means of escape of disabled people in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order. Building Regulations dictate new non-domestic buildings with 1+ stories provide ‘refuge’ areas – relatively safe places where people who cannot easily escape can call for assistance and wait for help. Simple two-way communication in these areas is essential, to assist rescue teams in determining where assistance is needed and to reassure people help is coming.

Type B and Type A outstations, when should they be used?

When choosing outstations for use with EVC systems we recommend referring to local regulations. In UK standards, for example, Type A outstations should be used for evacuation or fire fighting use and Type B should only be used where Type A outstations are impractical. For disabled refuges Type A or Type B Outstations can be used however Type B outstations can only be used where the background noise is below 40dBA.

Aesthetics or environment, switch the style of your VoCALL 5 panel to suit

The all steel construction of the VoCALL 5, along with its lockable door already make this panel robust, but with the addition of a flush fit cover the panel can be installed in some of the most challenging environments, such as student accommodation and hostels. Alternatively, simply switching the cover may better suit your environments aesthetics.
