Power Xpert Protection Manager (PXPM)

Eaton’s Power Xpert Protection Manager (PXPM) provides a clean, intuitive user interface enabling unmatched control, testing, and troubleshooting. The software is free to download and can run on any PC.

Settings and tests are communicated to trip units via USB or through connected networks, no special test equipment is required.

Troubleshooting is greatly simplified using historical event summaries and real time data provided by the Power Xpert Release (PXR) trip units, saving customer’s time and money.

PXPM installation requires the user to have administrative privileges on the PC. Privileges may be gained by right clicking on the installer and selecting “Run as administrator” or escalating to local IT for access.

Power Xpert Protection Manager software: Functionality and capability preview

The Power Xpert Protection Manager extends trip unit capability, and allows direct-to-trip unit or offline set up, including duplication of settings between units.​
Multichannel waveform views are enhanced with pan and zoom, giving the user scope-like functionality on their PC.​ PXPM can capture single-cycle waveforms or view the trip/alarm waveforms available on the PXR trip-unit.​
A powerful test suite lets the user easily verify their current sensors, breaker trip functionality, and any point on their time-current trip curve. Interactive guidance ensures that the breaker is correctly configured for testing to ensure accurate results.​
Pass/Fail results summary and log of tests along the trip curve makes testing easier than ever.
Exportable PDF reports, with customizable cover, make it easy to test results, setpoint changes (as-found vs as-left), and events on the breaker.​

Complete breaker and trip unit testing

Eaton’s PXPM offers an Advanced Testing app, which provides complete circuit breaker testing without requiring additional hardware. This unique offering provides an alternative to primary injection testing by allowing the user to verify ampacity at any point of the trip curve and verify the breaker sensors for all three phases.​

How to License Power Xpert Protection Manager Apps

Step 1: Download the License Request (.LicReq) file from PXPM

Licenses are PC specific. Be sure to download the LicReq file from the PC you want to license.

From the PXPM software interface, select
     Application Settings > License.

Select the Request License button next to the feature that you would like to license.


Step 2: Save the generated (.LicReq) file to your computer.


Step 3: Order your license file online.

Visit Eaton.mybigcommerce.com/power-xpert-protection-manager/.

You will be prompted to attach your License Request (.LicReq) file from Step 2 before adding the item to your cart.


Step 4: Receive your license

You will receive your license files as an email attachment from PXPMLicense@eaton.com. (Save or archive this email in the event a reinstall is needed.)

Save these to your PC.


5: Install your license

Click on Install License and select the License (.License) file you received in Step 4. If the license was installed correctly, a checkmark will appear next to the license.

  • A gray check mark means that a limited number of sessions have been added.
  • A green check mark means that unlimited use of the feature has been granted on your computer

The number of remaining sessions will be displayed on the license screen.
