Surge protection

PSPD series surge protective device

Sensitive IT equipment requires powerful surge protection. The PSPD is designed specifically with data center surge protection needs in mind. Form C relay contacts enable remote monitoring of your surge protection through your building management software. With reduced maintenance costs and built-in filtering, the PSPD is a surge protection solution for the whole data center at a price that won’t break the budget.

Protect your equipment with Eaton SPDs

Eaton surge protective devices (SPDs) use advanced metal oxide varistor (MOV) technology to protect against high energy surges and transient disturbances. For over 30 years, Eaton has provided solutions in all common voltages and configurations, with surge current capacities up to 800 kA and various optional features. These devices are independently tested, meet the latest UL and other agency standards and many have a nominal discharge current of 20 kA, indicating high robustness. Additionally, Eaton SPDs are supported by the largest engineering and technical support team in the industry.

Low cost filtering option

Surge protective devices with filtering don’t have to be expensive. Get the protection of EMI/RFI filtering in an affordable, compact footprint.

NEC code requirements for surge protection

The 2023 edition of the National Electrical Code brings some noteworthy changes that could significantly impact upcoming projects.

Thermally protected MOVs bring more safety and less weight

Don’t risk potentially unsafe conditions or smoke damage from traditional MOVs. Eaton uses thermally protected MOVs as their surge suppression component, which disconnect automatically when subjected to abnormal conditions.

Reduce dangerous surges and maintenance cost

All PSPD units are factory sealed with no user-replaceable parts. This eliminates maintenance costs while still protecting sensitive equipment from damaging power irregularities.
