Host:
Hello and welcome to Oh My Industrial Controls ...brought to you by the producers of Oh My PLC! — the game show that’s never out of control.

Host:
Contestants, I’d like you to imagine you’re a person in need of an enclosed starter. You have a lot of options. You’re losing sleep. You need to make a decision soon. You decide to make a list. Tell me...What are your top three considerations for selecting an enclosed starter?

Josh:
Paint color, durability and ease-of-use.

Host:
Paint color? Really? Well that may be on your list Josh, but it probably isn’t a dealbreaker for most customers. Asma!, what do you say?

Asma:
For most, I’d say it comes down to:

  1. What type of enclosure is it? NEMA Type 1, Type 3R, Type 4 or 4X or Type 12?
  2. The type of motor branch circuit protection that I’ll need.
  3. Whether the contactor itself is NEMA, IEC or DP.

A nice color wouldn’t hurt though.

Host:
Excellent analysis from Asma and one more point on the board for her.

Host:
Travis?

Travis:
I agree with Asma and just wanted to add that it would be pretty cool if the enclosure had racing stripes, or flames or something on it too.

Host:
Hmmm. Turns out this game show DOES get a bit out of control sometimes. And Travis, not sure that most of our customers would like to see pictures of flames on their electrical equipment. Jus sayin.

While I try to get these folks back on track you get ready for the next installment of...
